MAPPA Cases

Stepping Out are experienced in managing high level MAPPA cases, and those displaying sexually harmful, or sexualised behaviours.

MAPPA stands for: Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements. There are different categories and levels of MAPPA classification.

MAPPA Categories:

  • Category 1: Registered Sex Offenders (RSOs),
  • Category 2: All offenders who have received a custodial sentence of 12 months or more in prison for a sexual and/or violent offence. Also held under probation supervision.
  • Category 3: Anyone else who poses a, “risk of serious harm to the public” and who has received a conviction and whose risk would be better managed in a multi-agency setting.

MAPPA Levels:

  • Level 1: Represents the normal inter-agency management of the offender in the community by one agency, with some liaison.
  • Level 2: Means that the Multi Agency Public Protection meetings (MAPPs) will be held where the offender’s management will be discussed between various parties involved in their case.
  • Level 3: Essentially the same as Level Two, except that senior management representatives will attend the MAPPs and greater resources are expected to be used in the management of the offender.

Stepping Out are well practised in all levels and categories of MAPPA, having managed numerous cases in the past. For more information on how we can help, call 0208 34 7217 or emil us at info@stepping-out.org
